About The Role

Senior Designer (E-commerce)

The Senior Designer is responsible for overseeing and directing the design process, driving positive change and championing design innovation throughout the business. This is a solutions-led role, responsible for owning the design process from conceptualization to creation, aligning with strategic project goals and meeting stakeholders' expectations.

The Senior designer is responsible for leading the information gathering process, facilitating Discovery and be comfortable presenting designs to clients or stakeholders.

It is also expected they provide guidance and mentorship to other designers on the team, maintaining ongoing standards and ensuring best practice.

The role also involves regular cross-discipline collaboration with (but not exclusively) project management, development and account management teams to produce exceptional client experiences and best in class web experiences.

  • The Senior Designer will be well versed in best practice and emerging trends in the e-commerce design space
  • Designing and prototyping for e-commerce, social media, and other digital channels
  • Leading the design of complex systems of interactions
  • Design with empathy for the users through user-centred design principles when making design decisions
  • Have awareness of accessibility and site performance considerations when creating making design decisions
  • Ensuring consistency and cohesiveness across digital channels
  • Collaborating with art directors and graphic designers
  • Mentoring junior team members
  • Creating detailed overview decks for internal use
  • Implementing digital media campaigns
  • Creating layouts, guidelines & design systems
  • Presentation of your ideas and design vision articulately and effectively

Personal Specification

Key qualifications and attributes requirements:

  • Likely 6+ years’ experience working within the digital industry, preferably from an agency background
  • Relevant degree or industry recognised qualifications in design
  • Proficient in the use tools such as Figma, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Miro, Powerpoint and Word
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, Adobe Commerce and Big Commerce, if possible
  • Experience in retail and eCommerce
  • Cross-platform design experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Presentation of your ideas and design vision articulately and effectively
  • Adaptability with a solutions mindset - how can we solve the problem at hand
  • A personal growth mindset - self leadership, keen to learn and develop yourself
  • Be an autodidact

Other qualifications and attribute requirements that are desirable but not essential:

  • Involvement with the design and technology community as an active participant and/or contributor
  • Understanding of front-end development code, techniques and processes
  • Animation or video editing skills
